DEICIDE – In the Minds of Evil

I see about 5 notable releases from Deicide: "Deicide", "Legion" and "Once Upon The Cross", "Stench of Redemption" with the phenomenal guitarist Ralph Santolla and the 2011 "To Hell With God". This here record, bears some similarity to the last 2 of this bunch, particularly "Beyond Salvation", "Misery of One", the aforementioned title and "Even Gods Can Bleed". Also it has one fantastic song, "Between the Flesh and the Void" with phenomenal musicianship. These are all songs that fall under an umbrella of a mature Deicide effort that lets you forget about Brothers Hoffman for a while.
The rest is as if Benton and Co. picked up where Slayer’s "God Hates Us All" left of. Same vein, same lousy production. Of course, all songs on this record were produced same way. Ergo, "In the Minds of Evil" has a lousy production. And why, since the predecessor had a great one? Some reviewers theorize that Deicide is great on every other record. And excepting the first three, that may well be true.
In any case, Deicide can best be considered metal’s best combatants, especially with Glenn’s telltale sign, a Rolling Stone interview remark that implies routine approach taken on this record. I’ll have you know, Mr. Benton, I have been a fan of death metal for about as long as you have been a musician – more power to you whatever spiritual you choose to take but when metal music becomes routine it is time to exit the stage.
