MASSIMO IZZIZZARI – Electrifying

“Electrifying” is the second full length instrumental album from Italian guitarist Massimo Izzizzari. Backed by bassist Mario Mazzenga and drummer Azeglio Izzizzari, these 9 songs alternate between a hard rock and jazz/fusion foundation. Keyboards and electronic effect enhance material like “Lithosphere” and the funky “Funny Walk” among others – and overall Massimo’s technique keeps each song vibrant and loose, as it’s not all mere off to the races / shred Olympics. There’s even a short acoustic piece “Romance” that proves the man can play in an understated, melodic and 70’s progressive manner a la Steve Howe of Yes fame.
Another strict digital release, “Electrifying” appeals to the lighter side of jazz/ fusion followers, as well as people into Greg Howe – each song is distinct and tells it’s own story, retaining hooks while also showcasing Mr. Izzizzari’s schooled technique on the axe.
