AIRRACE – Untold Stories
The British hard rock act named Airrace came into being all the way back in 1982 and you can tell by the confidence and quality of this 11-track album of theirs that we are dealing with a gang of seasoned pros who know exactly how to write hook-laden songs. "Untold Stories" is pretty much solid all the way through and quite easy on the ear, which is to say that it is a memorable offering. Having said that, it is neither gritty, edgy, nor wildly energetic as such, but it is most enjoyable and pleasant to listen to nonetheless. On top of that, the production is pretty good and there is no denying the fact that these guys are talented and well-versed in the noble art of crafting an interesting and stimulating composition.
The tunes that really kick ass include "Eyes Like Ice", "Different But the Same", and "New Skin". The latter has a slightly melancholy undertone to it that makes the track a little more moving and heartfelt than the others. The mellow yet varied "Lost" also stands out and "Men From the Boys" is an awesome and groovy cut.
Fans of hard rock, melodic rock, AOR, or even early British heavy metal will not go wrong with "Untold Stories" as it is a consistent and entertaining slab of punchy rock music. Airrace have lined up some UK tour dates this year also, so head on over to their website to check those out and make sure you do not forget to give this cool album of theirs a number of spins once it is out.
