RUBIKON – Delta

14 years together as a band and a number of releases under their belt, Rubikon feature a potent bluesy oriented stoner hard rock sound that is very commercially viable for their new album "Delta". Heavier songs like "Live That Lie" and "Captain Deep" nestle nicely against more exploratory, dynamic material such as the ZZ Top-like "Three Days" with its slide guitar inflections and organ elements or the semi- acoustic, down by the bayou feel to "Wasting Time".
Drummer DR performs double duty on vocals, and his booming range has pure emotion pouring through his veins, as if he needs cathartic release for the benefit of the listeners at hand. At times you get the feeling that the band has studied the likes of Led Zeppelin, Stone Temple Pilots, and possibly King’s X when checking into the hypnotic riff/groove/melody combination throughout the aforementioned "Captain Deep" or the appropriately church hymn nature to "Sermon".
Rubikon aren’t out to change the world with "Delta" – they take their musical stew into hook-oriented directions, while remaining pure and faithful to their cause.
