DYING HUMANITY – Deadened

The fourth studio album from Germany’s Dying Humanity is an honest display of the power of melodic death metal if also incorporating a lot of the fierce rawness and passion from its early days. Occasionally using outside movie/sound clips to add texture to the track at hand, the forceful, semi-hardcore gritty vocals of Marcus ‘Osher’ Friedrich work best in the fierce passages, but the clean sections for "Delusion" are a little weak. Musically everything from Megadeth and Iron Maiden to Carcass and the Black Dahlia Murder come up in terms of the shifting tempos, twin power riffs, and sheer heaviness for the title track, maniacal "I Am King" and double bass propelled "Devious Greed".
Primal, in your face production values (love the natural snare snap and thick guitar tones) and proper execution makes me feel like "Deadened" could have easily been accepted in the mid 1990’s as it will be today.
