It´s allways amusing when "unknown" gems gets the re-release treatment and this time it´s US thrash outfit Powerlord who get´s a second 15 minutes of fame.
Shadow Kingdom Records remasters thier sole album "The Awakening" and for those who did not catch Powerlord back in1986, this is your chance of getting your hands on some decent thrash metal from the time when thrash metal actually was good.
Powerlord give all their got on "The Awakening" but if you look at the year 1986 in thrash metal history it´s no wonder they easily got overlooked ("Master of Puppets" & "Reign in Blood", nuff said).
Even though they do not invent anything they sure know how to deliver. With furious tempo, some quite extreme drumming and a vocalist that have given Iron Maiden some notice, Powerlord really sets out to take the world with a bang.
"The Awakening" is 30 minutes of relentless (for the time being) thrash metal with a stack of nice riffs and hooks divided thru the 6 songs provided.
If you like your thrash metal old and human sounding ,not the way a computer would do it give "The Awakening" a try. It may be another 30 years until the next re-release treatment.
