EKTOMORF – Black Flag

EKTOMORF – Black Flag

Hungary’s answer to Soulfly, Ektomorf returns after a brief acoustic album interlude to what they know best: aggressive groove metal, on their eighth studio album "Black Flag". Although other reference points appear- the ringing out of a high guitar note a la Machine Head on "The Cross" and "Never Surrender", the whispering meets screaming demeanor circa Korn/ Coal Chamber for "Enemy"- this 14 track, 49 minute effort appeals more to discontented, rebellious youth who don’t necessarily desire originality. A punchy snare notwithstanding, Ektomorf stay stagnant to these ears because of too many clichés and vocal monotony.

We already have one Max Cavalera parading his songs- we do not need a groove heavy watered down tribute.
