UK doom with a power trio. There’s something magical about long, drawn out chords of gloom, raw feedback and thunderously slow drum parts all wrapped around 5 songs and 47 minutes plus bliss. Vocalist/ guitarist Patrick Walker (also in doom band Warning) offers a plaintive, melodic approach with slightly cultural enhancement on beautiful tracks such as “Restless” and “Carry Me Home”.
It’s not the typical Candlemass/ Solitude Aeturnus classic style, yet 40 Watt Sun burn their own flame with grace, class, and hold their skills up to a level where the knowledgeable will embrace their material immediately.
