REVERIE – Bliss

REVERIE – Bliss

Blackened death can be an acquired taste, but when done in this fierce, aggressive manner as Danish band Reverie illustrate for "Bliss", it can get no better. Wails of sorrow against a cocktail of furious riffing, occasional Voivod-ish excursions give the ears a reprieve before the next aural assault assails. Softer military drum patterns open "Gennem Dine Ar" before the black metal riffing and blast beats fill the landscape, painting a picture of reckless abandon for the audience to treasure. Certain songs have a progressive texture, the drumming for "Dust and Dirt" tribal at times, the fills and tempo changes from doom to blast not for the faint of heart.

35 minutes later, battered for the better, Reverie will be your go to record if acts like Watain, Tribulation, and the like excite you.
