INFERIA – Grind Cumpaign

As the album title rather neatly suggests, we are dealing with a wild and pulverizing slab of nasty grindcore/death metal performed by guys who have obviously been at it for a long time. The musicianship is tight, the songs are sharp and concise, the atmosphere reeks of perversion, and you get 22 tunes with a total running time of 32 minutes, which is very much the way things ought to be when dealing with this particular style and genre. Nothing ever really outlasts its welcome here. The grimy growls from the pits are somewhat traditional and this Finnish outfit are not exactly reinventing the wheel here, but they pull things off in style and play with a notable sense of determination and confidence. On top of that, their compositions are catchier and more accessible than most other grind metal releases that come my way, so that is a huge plus as well. This blast of metal lunacy neither blows me away nor sets my world on fire, but it is a solid, competent, and weirdly entertaining piece of work that ought to satisfy fans and disciples of goregrind out there.
