SLAAMASKIN – M

Oh man, I am so fucking excited about this brand new EP by the foul-mouthed Norwegian scumbags known as Slaamaskin. Their 2016 EP blew me away and this reckless six-track 2018 opus of theirs entitled "M" is absolutely no different in that it packs a punch and oozes energy and aggression from start to finish. Slaamaskin basically offer an eclectic mixture of punk, hardcore, and face-melting heavy metal with a few crossover tendencies to it.
There is a confidence and swagger to rabble-rousing tunes such as "Uevangelium" and "Raatebrann" while "E39" is slightly more atmospheric and bombastic. The great thing about "M" is that there is an unwavering self-confidence to it and that it lacks neither balls nor spirit. Slaamaskin clearly love what they are doing and everything on this EP flows together seamlessly. The production courtesy of the talented Bjørnar E. Nilsen rules too and captures the band in all their ragged glory. Man, I just wish that this was a full-length album, but that it is merely because these guys rule my twisted world and I want more.
In short, "M" is a raging and whiskey-stinking inferno of kick-ass rock ‘n’ roll that will entertain and delight you. I could have phrased that differently and simply told you that the EP is like a pummeling that feels strangely invigorating somehow, but the bottom line is that "M" is so goddamn insane and corrosive that if you placed the CD on your floor, it would melt through it and kill your annoying neighbor downstairs. Slaamaskin may not be rule-bending revolutionaries as such, but we are living in desperate times and there is simply no room for bullshit or fucking around any more; we need raw and gritty bands such as Slaamaskin out there, so make sure you support them by any means necessary.
