WRATH OF ECHOES – A Fading Bloodline
Embracing influences from the Finnish doom/death scene, Quebec City, Canada’s Wrath of Echoes have worked hard to craft a debut five track EP with "A Fading Bloodline" that lives up to the masters. Expect riffs that brood and crawl at a slightly below mid-tempo pacing, measured growls over the top and beautiful melodies that comes about from the keyboards and supplementary guitar activities. Swallow the Sun and Insomnium would be the two quickest comparisons, especially when looking at the melancholic exploration and atmosphere abound for "The Asphodel Meadows" and 7:07 follow up "Weight of Time" – the latter featuring quieter, Tiamat-like clean vocals against the conventional growls that add to the tranquil, hypnotic nature of the arrangement.
It’s only natural that the European melodic doom/death model is infiltrating other countries, as musicians wish to explore their creative desires and add their own dimensional touches to the framework. Wrath of Echoes has a good grasp of the versatility the two genres can offer, making "A Fading Bloodline" an ideal starting point for a group to keep your eyes on.
