VULTURES VENGEANCE – Where the Time Dwelt In EP

Every now and then being a reviewer pays off when a gem like this pops up. ‘Where the Time Dwelt in’ serves up some classic speed-tinged metal in the same mould as Helstar, Leige Lord, Omen, Agent Steel etc. Obviously, this is a furrow that has been ploughed by many great acts in the past and revisited by many in the present, but it is difficult to think of a contemporary contender that that satisfies the brief so well.
While not being flat out in terms of speed, the tempo sits squarely in that sweet spot where there is enough urgency and momentum to carry the tracks forward while allowing plenty of time for the groove and melodic elements to shine through. The harmonic interplay of the twin guitars is faultless and the vocals contain enough grit and power to hit all the right spots. In terms of sound and feel, ‘Where the Time Dwelt in’ is authentic late 80’s fare. Check out the production or member’s names – for example ‘Tony Steel’ and ‘Matt Savage’ and you can see that the message is carved all the way though this stick of rock. Studs, tight pants and hairy chests all the way.
Let us hope that Vulture’s Vengeance continue to work on honing their craft and come up with a lengthier offering and career that delivers on all of the potential they show here.
