Ben Ward & Co is back once again with a powerfull piece of stoner metal. "Back from the Abyss" is the eight in line for this UK act and they seem to handle the genre like it´s their own these days.
From the qute original opener Sabbath Hex to the fast paced Bloodzilla to the instrumetnal closer The Shadow of Innsmouth they seem to never loose control.
Vocalist and mainman Ben Ward does his duty almost flawless and I must give much of Orange Goblin´s success to him. His voice really does carry a lot of the music when it gets repetetive or monotone.
Even though the titletrack does stand out the whole album is packed with smooth riffing. The arrangements are well thougth out with good variation on structures but when this seasoned, Orange Goblin know how to hanlde this and their musical window in general.
"Back from the Abyss" is just what to expect and if you know Orange Goblin´s back catalogue you know that you that you like it.
