BLOOD RUNS DEEP – Into the Void

The music performed by Blood Runs Deep from Switzerland is a strange mixture of doom metal, goth rock, and slight hints of sludge metal. The music is either pretty slow or mid-paced and based around big, open chords and mournful lead-guitar parts coupled with a melancholic piano parts and cleanly-type vocals. The synthesizers underline and compliment the guitar riffs rather well and there are catchy and truly doomy parts to be found in a few places, but all in all I must say that I have heard much better and much more interesting releases akin to what Blood Runs Deep are doing elsewhere many times before. There is hardly anything new, original, or innovative to what these guys are doing, and that’s okay, but the songs themselves never really grip me or touch me as such. Some good ideas here and there and so on, but the vocals don’t work for me whatsoever and the music never turns as bleak as I am sitting there hoping that it will. However, there’s potential to be found here, but in the overall perspective we’re dealing with a slightly below average release.
