"Sede Vacante Aeternum" is the third full-length from Slovakian blackened death metallers Infer.
The sound is big, beefy and professional, with plenty of definition and potency in the guitars. The vocals are typical DM gravel a la David Vincent. Good stuff. Perhaps the drums could have been a bit more organic but that is a minor concern. I don’t know who produced the album, but it is probably a safe bet to say they are a perfectionist!
Although the songs a played with plenty of technical proficiency and brutality they seldom get beyond the stage of being mildly satisfying. You could be fooled for a while by the great production and the excellent packaging, but sadly Infer are pretty average when you get down to it and the more I listen to "Sede Vacante Aeternum" the clearer that becomes.
