Following a highly acclaimed debut album Triptykon keeps their fans on edge with 2010’s "Shatter" EP. With an opening track that could soundtrack Armageddon itself, "Shatter" sets the mood with the sound of destruction that’s to come. With a constant riff that’s heavy as lead "I Am The Twilight" gets some of the blood pumping again. The track is the highlight of the three original songs on the EP, both due to its brutality and riffs. Triptykon has a sound that skilfully mixes black metal and doom metal, it’s slow with a sense of impending doom. "Circle of the Tyrants" and "Dethroned Emperor" are live covers of front man Thomas Gabriel Fischer’s old band, Celtic Frost. They both add some speed to a otherwise slow album. "Shatter" is a good addition to Triptykon’s discography, and feeds the senses before the next Triptykon album.
