A Permanent Shadow – interview

A Permanent Shadow – interview

Introduce your band, and describe your latest release:

We are called A Permanent Shadow, and our new single We’ll Be One is out now!

What’s the hardest part about being a band in this day and age?

It’s pretty difficult to get yourself heard. There’s so much new music out there that to find your niche is a real challenge.

When did you realise that your project had the potential to be much more than just a fun idea?

It was never just fun. I had been in many projects before and there was always something lacking, mainly a common focus or determination. So, for this project I decided to go all the way by myself and do the best I can, no efforts spared.

Tell us about your latest release, why should we check it out?

Our new single We’ll Be One is a stalker song in the guise of a piece of Yacht Rock, very suave and mellow. The lyrics are everything but, though. It’s an interesting combination.

How does a song typically come together for you?

Lyrics usually come first, and then I weave the music around the story. It rarely happens the other way round.

How would you describe your sound to an unfamiliar reader?

It’s a kind of Post-Punk mixed with Indie Electronica, with a bit of Bowie, Lou Reed and Iggy in there.

What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your band?

I hope they appreciate the work and thought that go into our songs, and more importantly, they find something memorable and hummable in our music.

Where would you really like to tour that you haven’t done so yet, and why?

The Far East, Eastern Europe, Australia. Basically, anywhere they would have us, to be honest. I could perfectly live out of a suitcase.

How would you say that the sound of your band has progressed over the years?

The songs are more trimmed these days, less expansive. I would also like to believe that the songwriting and the singing have improved over the years.

How excited are you for 2027, and what can fans expect from you?

A new single will be released on Bowie’s birthday, January 8th, and two weeks later the album Half-Century Dead End will be out. Still some months to go, but we’re already super excited to share the record with the public!
