FOO FIGHTERS – Oslo – Telenor Arena

Ghost entered the stage at precisely 1900 but there where surprisingly many twho had taken a early departure out to Telenor Arena to witness the swedes and their occult brand of rock. My relatively green companions in the field of metaal where somewhat stunned by the fact that Ghost wthere not more extreme based on their outfit and appeareance. Ghost is releasing their third opus late august so we where treated with a couple of teasers from the new album and even though I have heard the new tracks earlier I do not think they worked out very well in a live setting. There is no memoriable riffing or no punch in the songs so hopefully the other material on the new album will be better. But Ghost have so much great material that they had no problems owning the stage when they churned out "hits" from both of their first two albums. The overall sound was good when I moved into the middle of the front stage. The vocal was nice and clean and all the instruments where audiobale in the overall mix. Sadly the only had about 50 minutes at their disposal and I think they should have ended the show with something else than the Roky Ericson cover. They have way to much original material they can use instead.

As the venue started to fill up with people waiting for Foo Fighters the temperature started to increase and combined with way to long lines to get in/out to take a piss Dave Grohl & Company could not start a minute earlier. Being the showman he is, Dave took control from the first second and he really showed why Foo Fighters desevers the hysteria they get when the vist Oslo. Besides for some problems with the sound on the vocal the first couple of tracks he’s voice where formidable all thru the gig. They entered the stage about 2030 and kept it going for about 2.5 hours so it’s no doubt that the 24000 that had taken the trip to Telenor Arena got their moneys worth. With material from all over their back catalogue combined with a couple of nice covers from both AC/DC and Queen the show never got to long or boring.

Foo Fighters came and delivered on all accounts this wednesday evening and I can for sure say that they are welcome back to Oslo any time soon.
