THE CHANT – New Haven

Finnish atmospheric rock from the seven-piece The Chant that rolls comfortably into studio album four "New Haven". Fusing the best of melancholic chord progressions, simplified rock/ doom grooves, and nuances of tranquility and darkness – making "Playwright", the jagged, semi-discordant "Cloud Symmetry", and The Gathering-oriented "Come to Pass" addictive, enthralling, and worthy of intense listening sessions.
Fans of latter day Katatonia, Anathema, Alcest – rejoice once again, as The Chant send eight tracks into aural space that should guarantee tears of joy or goose bumps all over the body. The best music can develop through space and simplified, repetitive motion – as well as an understanding of how to layer your instruments to stir up the right images, thoughts, and feelings that correlate with each arrangement.
Great for when you need a break from aggressive heavy metal.
