RICKY WARWICK & THE FIGHTING HEARTS – Unplugged Live Full Band Performance from Backstage at KK’s Steel Mill – 23.03.2022 – Wolverhampton

VENUE: KK’s Steel Mill
DATE: 23.03.2022
ORGANIZER: StageIt

Renowned songwriter Ricky Warwick (Black Star Riders, Thin Lizzy) is currently touring the UK with his insanely talented solo outfit named The Fighting Hearts, but a couple of hours before they went onstage at KK’s Steel Mill in Wolverhampton on a Wednesday night, they did a little acoustic live performance backstage that was streamed all over the globe via StageIt. I had so much fun watching it that I figured we had to pen a few words about the event.

Ricky and his talented cohorts were all gathered around one microphone, but every instrument was clearly audible, and it truly did feel as if they were sitting right in front of you, performing these fantastic tunes and having the time of their lives. With its relaxed mood and intimate low-key setting, the quartet were all smiles as they tore through such brilliantly evocative pieces as “Fighting Heart”, “Still Alive”, “When Patsy Cline Was Crazy (and Guy Mitchell Sang the Blues”), and “You Don’t Love Me”. “You’re My Rock ‘N Roll” was one of the highlights of the set as was the cover rendition of “Jesus Loves You…But I Don’t” from the wildly entertaining “Stairwell Troubadour” album. 45 minutes of acoustic rock ‘n roll bliss later they had to wrap things up and they did so by means of a loose and hugely entertaining rendition of Ramones’ “I Wanna be Sedated”, but they did mention that there would be more live streams such as this one in the future, so keep an eye out for those. The thing about StageIt is that everything is done in real time and only streamed once, which means that it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, if that makes sense. In the humble opinion of yours truly, that made the performance by Ricky Warwick and the Fighting Hearts all the more unique.

For those of us who are unable to catch them on tour in the UK these days, the unplugged live stream was a real treat and a memorable event. Like I said, you should keep an eye out for any future happenings such as this one.
