DISTANT SUN – Into the Nebula

Russian trio Distant Sun develop an appetizing power metal style on their second album "Into the Nebula". Very much guitar driven in terms of the harmonies and potent, melodic riff action, many German influences from Blind Guardian and Helloween to Rage come up when taking in "My Trust", the double kick crusher "God Emperor", or even the acoustic to march-oriented electric "The Tharks". Bigger than life choruses, fantasy-laden tales, and gritty vocals from guitarist Alexey Markov bring things back to the early 1990’s – before bands got a little too bombastic and added hundreds of layers to their sound.
If you like your power metal a little rougher around the edges with semi-thrash bursts, Distant Sun ideally gets the job done. Potent and deadly stuff for sure.
