GRAVEYARD – For Thine is the Darkness

Barcelona’s Graveyard have been around for almost a decade now, plying their slightly dirty, blackened brand of death metal. For Thine is the Darkness is their third full-length foray into the wilderness.

First up, the production is pretty good. The sound is heavy (especially the snare) and underground so there is plenty of atmosphere but you can easily hear all that is going on at the same time.

Musicianship is solid too, but nothing really made my jaw hit the ground. On to the songs then. While they add in total to a decent listening experience, and while there are a few good moments, overall this is a very average record in that regard. None of it annoys or offends, but overall none of it really grabs the listener and makes them want to return for more.
