Shifting labels from Inner Wound to AOR Heaven, Swedish melodic heavy metal act Saffire continue with their second album "For the Greater Good" to embrace a love for the 70’s/80’s bluesy Rainbow-esque sound. Guitarist Victor Olsson and vocalist Tobias Jansson are a formidable songwriting team, bringing "The Great Escape" and "Wake up the World" to highlight status through incessant hooks, energy, and passion. True organ play in the Jon Lord/ Don Airey spirit also volleys about, while the rhythm section grooves and swings in the best legacy traditions.
Dio would be proud to hear his legendary skills still present in Saffire – another smartly executed album that proves that certain styles remain timeless no matter what era they hit the public’s attention. Cow bell punctuates the tempo for "Blame it on the Rain" – the rich vocal harmonies bringing home the groove. Kings indeed will fall as love shines with Saffire.
