CULT OF FIRE – Čtvrtá Symfonie Ohně EP

Czech band Cult of Fire play a brand of epic, bohemian Black Metal with Indian influences. This EP features 2 tracks based on the rivers Vlatava and Váh. The first track, an instrumental, is fairly up-tempo and highlights the band’s rich, layered sound. The second, although also quick has more of a blackgaze feel about it. The speed translates to a hypnotic rather than brutalistic feel. Given the solid, modern production, this helps the band create a sound that had excellent melodic properties while still having the bite and power that a BM fan seeks.
This is my first encounter with Cult of Fire and a fairly impressive one it is. Think I’ll check out their longer stuff now…
