Obituary should not need any introduction, if so then stop reading now and run to your nearest place for purchasing music and get "Cause of Death".
The legends of death metal are back (once again) with their 9th album since their formidable debut "Slowly we Rot" back in 1989.
"Inked in Blood" does not shy away from using the same old and well tried formula. The boys do what they do best, crushing death metal with that signature John Tardy voice on top, just as everyone like it. There´s no need to try to reinvent anything when you where there when it all started!
Obituary contributed a lot in the early days in Florida when it comes to arrangements and guitar sound and the still have the ability to create haunting death metal.
Apart from Tardy´s unique signature growls, the guitar is handled by axekiller Trevor Peres and he knows how to create a true Obituary riff.
"Inked in Blood" have everything you know and love from these pioneérs of extreme metal and this album just adds to the massive back catalogue the brand Obitury posesses.
The sound on "Inked" creates that dark and sinister atmosphere that "Cause of Death" introduced to the metal world some 25 years ago and that is what makes this album so appealing. The terror of the music is still there after all these years and I am happy to say that it still frightens me. It´s still that good!
