Patronymicon is a Swedish black metal band that came into existence back in 2008. Initially it was a one-man band of sorts, but gradually it turned into a quartet. Previous releases include the demo "Coldborn" and the full-length album entitled "Prima Omega".
"All Daggers Towards the Sky" is a good and decent slab of filthy black metal that somehow reminds me a bit of other Swedish and also some French orthodox black metal outfits. There`s nothing terribly original or sensational to be found on this album, and a couple of the songs are less than inspiring to listen to, but overall the album is above average. The music is both aggressive and melodic, and there is a bit of variation and diversity to it in terms of changing tempos and alternations between fast and more mid-paced parts. I like the more epic-sounding songs such as "Mourning Cold" and "The Great Pestilence" the most. The latter is also quite melodic in places and is the best song on here in my humble opinion. The best cuts apart from the two I just mentioned are "Unleash Hells Fire" and "Age of Contamination", both of which contain some thrash metal sounding riffs and parts in places.
Fans of bands such as Marduk, Triumphator, and Temple of Baal, just to name a few, should check out "All Daggers Towards the Sky", but don`t expect something wickedly unique or outstanding here, because that`s not really the case. Also, I think the last four songs on the album are the best, so have some patience when listening to it in case the first 2-3 songs don`t do much for you either. Things get rolling with track 4 ("The Great Pestilence").
