YOUR LAST WISH – Desolation

A five piece, melodic death metal band from Montreal, Quebec Canada, Your Last Wish on their second album "Desolation" appear to fence sit between dazzling musicianship displays and pure adrenaline laced aggression with these 11 tracks. At times the guitars and rhythm section roar with galloping Iron Maiden meets In Flames textures, then quickly mutate into modern flourishes more in line with The Black Dahlia Murder or Hatesphere. Female vocalist Roxana Bouchard growls and screams like the best in the business, busting skulls and asking questions later on instant winners like the musically spider web oriented "Autistic Mind" or slightly thrash gravitating "Creep".
Adequate dynamics, appropriate change ups in terms of not keeping all the arrangements at the same tempo for ear / brain burn out- Your Last Wish are not spring chickens when it comes to the melodic death genre (forming in 2003), and as such "Desolation" ranks well with many of their contemporaries.
