B.E. TAYLOR GROUP – Our World (re-issue)

Pittsburgh, PA rock band with strong melodic AOR affiliation on this fourth album. Originally hitting the streets in 1986, it was never released on CD until now. These 9 songs run the spectrum from slightly reggae influenced in the guitar play of Rich Witkowski a la The Police in “Runaway” or the appropriately named “Reggae Rock n’ Roll” to more conventional keyboard enhanced 80’s AOR in the early Michael Bolton/ Aldo Nova mold with “The Fire’s Gone”. B.E. Taylor’s voice is one of those tenor touches like classic Steve Perry with a twinge of restraint.

“Our World” probably got caught in a trap of being too soft for most rockers yet too adventurous with the outside influences for radio to take a real chance on some of this material. Best cuts include the closer “Karen” which wouldn’t be far away from classic Jefferson Starship and “Question Of Love” that could have been on many a Sylvester Stallone movie soundtrack.
