SUICIDE SILENCE – The Black Crown

In an effort to not seem un-hip or old fashioned, here’s my take on Suicide Silence and their third album “The Black Crown”. All the youngsters love this Riverside metal-core group, who scream and pummel with thick grooves and immeasurable anger in all their songs. Gaining a guest appearance from Korn’s Jonathan Davis on “Witness The Addiction” , most of the material on “The Black Crown” follows the breakdown/pit element meets blood vessel bursting screamo vocals blueprint to a tee.
Already a big hit in terms of chart appearances, sales figures and crisscross touring cycles, Suicide Silence bulldoze with these 11 songs – but you wonder what you are tangibly left with after you have been flattened. Despite a versatile drum performance out of Alex Lopez (it’s nice to hear a metalcore drummer who doesn’t rely on one speed to get his point across), “The Black Crown” shouts without telling me its significance.
