WARCRY – Revenge In Blood

References to Mercyful Fate in lyrics, a vocalist who wails in Agent Steel highs, the occasional blatant borrowing of classic material (“Angel of Death” double bass drum break during “Pure Force of Steel”) – Germany’s Warcry unabashedly live for raw metal on this album “Revenge In Blood”. Songs like “In Battle For Vengeance” and “Knights of the Dark Blade” remind me of Sacred Steel if they decided to trek in more of a speed/ thrash style. Includes a rough and tumble cover of “Deathrider” featuring new Omen singer George Call on second lead vocals.

They aren’t breaking new ground, but it certainly reminds me of the days before everything sounded glossy, computer programmed or pristine.
