ENEMY EYES – History’s Hand

Featuring the inimitable Johnny Gioeli (Hardline) on vocals, Enemy Eyes is truly a delight to these ears in that this skilled new outfit combines classic heavy metal with hard rock, and the result is deeply satisfying to immerse oneself in.

First of all, it genuinely sounds like a true and proper labor of love to these gentlemen, especially when it comes to the charismatic vocals that are teeming with vigor and power. The LP has a distinctly European feel to it in terms of riffs, melodies, production values, and overall aura, which is not entirely unlike those early classics by the DIO band. Memorable and instantly appealing are two phrases that immediately come to mind here, but above all, the songwriting is great and lacks neither substance nor creativity. Although the group is not exactly reinventing the wheel nor bringing anything new to the table as such, the album is simply an absolute joy to play loud and an energetic output that offers both class and heaviness. Its highlights include ‘The Rat Race’, ‘Broken’, ‘The Miracle in You’, ‘The Chase’, and ‘What You Say’ – all of which will excite you. Recommended for sure.
