DEICIDE – In the Minds of Evil

Deicide deserves alot of credit. They have been around since the very beginning of the death metal era and they have allways keept the flame alive with consitency to the well proven formula. Even though the controversy around the band and particulary mainman Glen Benton has been more about anything but the music they still manage to keep their death metal semi interesting.
After their S/T debut (90) and excellent follow up "Legion"(92), Deicide have continued to produce albums all the thru the years and "In the Minds of Evil" is the eleventh opus under the moniker. Their 2011 release "To Hell with God" was in my opinion an album that deserved better reviews than it got. The music was intense and the evil vibe was strong.
"In the Minds of Evil" follows up strong and feels like an continuation or part two of that release. Benton is on fire as allways and his unique voice still give that good evil feeling that death metal should do. The music is straight forward with a lot of chugging accompanied by cool solo parts to devide them all. Jack Owen (ex Cannibal Corpse) is on top of his game as allways and even though Deicide´s music is not half the technical as what he´s capable of he arranges his parts to sound intricate enough to not get boring ont het hird and fourth listen in a row.
Deicide is well known for their lyrical content and Benton keeps the fire burning strong in the department this time too.
The production/sound is as Deicide as it gets, no suprises there and all this is what makes "In the Minds of Evil" a good album.
Deicide is Deicide and you´ll know what to expect when that (now) classic logo is on the cover.
Straight forward evil and crushing death metal the way it sounded almost 25 years ago.
