ARVET – Ajina

Arvet is from Finland and they started up in 2005. Finland got some quality black metal bands and some of lesser worth. Arvet is in the middle. Through the years, they have released one demo and an EP on different companies. And now their full length "Aijina". It is said that back in 2005, the members of Arvet were gathered to express thoughts of the world and inner feelings through the music. By looking at the symbols and the drawings on their front-cover, one can see that. To me it’s not understandable and I won’t get any wiser by trying to interpret their lyrics since they are in Finnish. But still, this concept is based on inner thoughts and emotions so they have kept the individuality into it. To keep it true to the "black metal attitude", this is pure individualism.
The first I was thinking when I was listening to the opening-track on this album was the "Grand Declaration of War"-intro (Mayhem). It sounds like a slow version of it. Anyway, Arvet plays a slow, doomish type of black metal. They also got some fast parts with blastbeats but this album is basically slow.
"Ajina" fits well if you want to sit alone in the dark and drink alcohol because Arvet gives you darkness and melancholy.
