SACRED LEGACY – Undying Heart (re-release)

Another Maldivian metal band, Sacred Legacy border the thrash/death lines with this second album “Undying Heart”. Originally appearing on the scene in 2008, this re-release sets the quintet up for a more melodic follow up to come this summer. Which should be more interesting to these ears, as musically these 8 songs follow a primal Sepultura meets neo-classic progressive approach that loses its impact due to the Ali Ashraf monotone distant scream vocals – rendering otherwise killer material like “Forgot” and “Dragon Wars” to whitewash status.
I’ll forgive the production struggles (where’s the bottom end, and the mastering leaves the drums quite computerized when you can tell a human is playing on this) but Sacred Legacy really need a stronger front man or they won’t make it beyond four figure sales with this.
