BALANCE OF POWER – Fresh from the Abyss

The long-running British outfit named Balance of Power will unleash their next batch of songs via Massacre Records in April, and if aggressive and melodic metal with countless cool and interesting layers to it is your particular brand of vodka then you need to make sure that you check this well-produced and muscular-sounding opus out when it is unleashed upon the unsuspecting masses.

Its big, crunchy guitars, strong choruses, charismatic vocals, and insanely tight rhythm section tick so many boxes with respect to what constitutes a thrilling listening experience, and the way in which the keyboards have been implemented is just superb. The album comes across as very confident and mature in terms of style, identity, musicianship, and the actual songwriting, and you can easily tell that a lot of hard work and thought went into crafting its eight compositions. Fresh from the Abyss is a rewarding record with just the right amount of drama and passion to, and my personal favorite pieces include the groovy and melodically gorgeous ‘Rage of Ages’ and the reflective, poignant album closer titled ‘One More Time Around the Sun’. Did I also mention that it leans slightly towards progressive metal? Yeah, there is plenty for you to get excited about here, so make a note of this classy release.
