DRUNK THRASHER – Raining Vomit

This blistering and maniacal output by the Polish one-man outfit known as Drunk Thrasher is exactly what the mood called for today. Intense, fast-paced, and utterly evil-sounding, this is raw thrash/speed metal from the underground designed to break your neck and strangle you to death. The vocals are caustic and unpleasant, the atmosphere throughout is gloriously sinister, the riffs are simple yet memorable, and there is something delightfully undignified and unrefined about the entire package that makes it hugely appealing to these ears and a most welcome to my collection of ugly and catchy metal. It often sounds somewhat inspired by early Sodom, the first couple of Bathory LPs, and Toxic Holocaust just to list a few examples for your reference, and surely that is not a bad thing. The highlight of the disc is the commanding ‘The Poisoning’, which is delivered with an insane amount of aggression and venom.

Simply put, Raining Vomit and its five tracks are metal to lose your mind to and obviously something that is worth looking into regardless of whether thrash-, black-, death- or speed metal is your preferred genre as this violent little opus incorporates elements from all of them albeit of the old school variety. The booklet proudly states, “Primitive alcoholic necro thrash metal” – and THAT sounds about right to this scribe.
