FAREWELL FORTUNE – interview

FAREWELL FORTUNE – interview

Introduce your band, and describe your latest release:
I am Don Huffman, lead vocalist of Farewell Fortune. Farewell Fortune was formed in 2019 and our latest release was out April 28th called “Chaos Serum”. “Chaos Serum” features 10 songs and can be best described as a rock/EDM/industrial mixture.

What’s the hardest part about being a band in this day and age?
Most bands today are unsigned and must handle all the marketing, touring, merchandise, and release responsibilities. You will not see many bands making a living off just the music. Most bands work full time jobs just to put out music and perform for their fans.

When did you realise that your project had the potential to be much more than just a fun idea?
The response from the first album release “Decompose” in June 2022 garnered a nice following with songs like “Unleash” and the title track. “Chaos Serum” is getting positive reviews from listeners so far and could be our biggest release to date.

Tell us about your latest release, why should we check it out?
We have released three singles off the forthcoming album. “Mayhem’, “I, Arise”, and “Watch The Walls Fall” are all powerful songs with tight grooves and stinging lead guitar. The “Chaos Serum” album is packed with 10 songs that just rock. Our next single and video “Static” releases on April 28th.

How does a song typically come together for you?
I will hit the studio with my producer Tony Correlli of Deep End Studio and give him a few melody ideas to work off. Tony is a master composer and writes some of the wildest music you can think of. I will then take that music and work my melody ideas through while trying to convey a particular message to the listener. It’s a tried and true process since we started in 2019.

How would you describe your sound to an unfamiliar reader?
If you take Linkin Park, Pearl Jam, and Nine Inch Nails, then throw in some Prince and Michael Jackson, you would probably come somewhat close to this unique blend of music we’ve created.

What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your band?
I just want them to enjoy the experience of the creativity we invoke. I think they will love the vast repertoire of sounds that will be coming through their headphones.

Where would you really like to tour that you haven’t done so yet, and why?
If we are successful enough, I would love to tour Europe. I’ve met so many great bands from there that I would love to rock with in person.

How would you say that the sound of your band has progressed over the years?
It started as a strictly rock based idea and I’ve melded all the influences from the past to create a unique sound of my own. I think there is something for every genre lover in there.

How excited are you for 2023, and what can fans expect from you?
Absolutely ready to get the “Chaos Serum” album out and can’t wait to hear what the reception will be! I think these 10 songs all have potential to resound with people. We have a couple more single releases coming later in the summer and I will begin work on the third Farewell Fortune album in May.
