I really liked the previous album by Chez Kane (i.e. the self-titled one from 2021) and find her a terrific singer with a lot of charisma, but this latest LP of hers, which was written and produced by Danny Rexon from Crazy Lixx, lacks those truly hook-laden and memorable delights that its predecessor had. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the slick and polished production nor the talent involved in the endeavor for that matter, but the actual songwriting is a bit of a letdown as there are too many filler track and superfluous material to be found on the disc. A few proper gems harboring irresistable choruses do present themselves in the shape of the catchy ‘Love Gone Wild‘, the dynamic ‘Guilty of Love‘, and the melodically strong title cut, but, frankly speaking, it is rather slim pickings left on the musical rack apart from those three hard-rocking treats. All in all, a depressingly mediocre output somehow, but if you live and breathe AOR and melodic rock inspired by the glorious 80s or simply cherish Kane’s previous output then you might want to give Powerzone a listen.
