ABOUT US – About Us

It is not often that something as exotic as kick-ass and dynamic hard rock from India finds its way to my mailbox, but I am really grateful that this vigorous and passionate opus by About Us did as this is a fantastic debut album.

Energetic and chock-full of good ideas, the talented ensemble merge the old with the new in a seamless manner and deliver tasty hooks, superb vocal melodies, and a very appealing atmosphere that reminds me ever so slightly of pomp rock from the 70s and 80s. They throw in some cool surprises along the way too, and this effort of theirs dabbles in much more than mere hard rock; you get melodic rock, AOR, and heavy metal too, which entails that it moves from the pummeling and aggressive track titled ‘Golden Troops‘ to the gentle, piano-led ballad that is ‘Open Your Heart‘. Diverse for sure but arguably not always as cohesive or organic as it could have been. Nevertheless, this an impressive affair and a most enjoyable listen, and I very much look forward to their sophomore output. The highlights include ‘Our Fairyland‘ and ‘Rock on Top‘ – both of which are melodically gorgeous and infectiously catchy pieces.
