Interview with the Hard-Active Rock / Alt Metal/ Post Grunge Group from New Brunswick, Canada ECHOSEVEN and the founding member Allon McCall (drums) with info about the band’s influences, musical style and plans for the future
Introduce your band, and describe your latest release:
ECHOSEVEN is a female fronted Hard Rock/ Alt Metal band from New Brunswick Canada. Our latest release is a 7track EP entitled “X-Ray In Use” . The track “Blame” from that EP is out now as well as the video on YouTube.
What’s the hardest part about being a band in this day and age?
The hardest part is paying for it all lol, Not believing the hype of other bands and working your way through all of the scams and “pay to play” nonsense that’s around every corner. Shadiness is at an all time high in the business.
When did you realise that your project had the potential to be much more than just a fun idea?
I’ve always been serious about my music. This has never been just a hobby. So I went into this project with the same approach.
Tell us about your latest release, why should we check it out?
Our latest release is “Blame” off of our EP “X-Ray In Use” . It’s a song about not being phased by others opinions of you and your path. To not take responsibility for their feeling towards you. They only have themselves to Blame for how they feel.
Everyone should check out the entire EP. It’s a solid body of work that we are proud of.
How does a song typically come together for you?
It’s a team effort. We write riffs and then either myself or Stefanie will write to the music.
How would you describe your sound to an unfamiliar reader?
Our sound is melodic, loud, but coherent. Out lyrics are about personal struggles and overcoming them.
What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your band?
I’d like listeners to take away a sense of motivation and encouragement from our songs. We sound how we sound. We’re not over produced with a lot of extra “help” in our music. What you hear is what you get. And also a desire to hear more from us
Where would you really like to tour that you haven’t done so yet, and why?
We would like to do Europe for sure. But we haven’t been outside Canada so anywhere would be awesome
How would you say that the sound of your band has progressed over the years?
We have definitely found what works for us. The band as it is now works well. We all bring different influences and ideas to the table. The goal is to make good music. We know we’re Hard Rock. We know we’re Alt Metal. And we just work within that framework.
How excited are you for the rest of 2022, and what can fans expect from you?
Very excited. We have one more show on our “X-Ray In Use” Maritime tour. We have our holiday track “Born from Ice” coming along with a video for that. And we’re working on new material for next year.
