INGLORIOUS – Live at the Phoenix MMXXI

INGLORIOUS – Live at the Phoenix MMXXI

RELEASE YEAR: 2022
BAND URL: http://inglorious.com/

British hard rockers Inglorious delivered one of 2021’s best and most memorable outputs in the shape of “We Will Ride” not to mention that their covers album “Heroine” (also from 2021) was a fabulous addition to their discography too. Their joyous new offering is a live album consisting of a CD and a DVD, and although it is not what I would deem essential as such given that the live renditions of their tunes differ little from the studio versions, it shows a band in sparkling form. The sound is crunchy and organic, every member of the hard-hitting ensemble delivers a fine performance, and Nathan James’ utterly impressive voice screams passion and power. The set-list is a pretty good representation of their catalog, and the exhilarating versions of Heart’s “Barracuda” and the dramatic “I Don’t Need Your Loving” are fucking awesome as is the heavy rush of the “We Will Ride” title track, but there are no weak or pedestrian cuts here at all and we are talking quality stuff.

This record might primarily appeal to fans and adherents of Inglorious, but it is hard to find any faults with any aspects of the performance and production other than the fact that the DVD feels superfluous, which basically means that all you need to do is to close your eyes and listen to the CD instead of watching the DVD. As a fan of these gentlemen, I must say that I am thoroughly enjoying “Live at the Phoenix MMXXI” and the classic hard rock grooves that emanate from my speakers.
