KNEKKLECTRIC – Alt Blir Verre

This quirky and musically adventurous prog rock gem by the wonderfully cool Norwegian outfit sporting the creative moniker Knekklectric is a most inspired and fascinating listening experience. Why is that? Well, for one thing they are singing in their native language using an Aalesund dialect, which is charming as hell, and secondly, these awesome nerds are adept at conjuring infectious melodies and excellent vocal hooks not to mention that these seven sprawling compositions of theirs are lively and dynamic from beginning to end. One might detect a nod to Camel here, a subtle reference to Jethro Tull there, or perhaps even an influence from Van Der Graaf Generator on occasion but believe me when I say that this marvelous act has a sound, style, and identity of its own and I can think of no other groups that are similar to Knekklectric, which is surely a compliment The record is cloaked in a punchy and warm-sounding production, the atmosphere ranges from melancholic to dark and further on to uplifting, and the way in which they have mixed the LP is superb with every instrument having been granted plenty of space and air to breathe. The lyrics alone make it worth purchasing this eclectic piece of work. Highly recommended!
