SUPERLYNX – Electric Temple

I am extremely fond of the previous offering by the psychedelic stoner rock/doom metal act from Oslo known as Superlynx, more specifically the one titled "New Moon", and so this upcoming record of theirs bearing the evocative moniker "Electric Temple" is obviously something that I have been looking forward to for a while now. So how do the skilled purveyors or hypnotic and trance-inducing sounds of gloom fare this time around? Fucking brilliant is how!
Fuzzy stoner rock coupled with psychedelic outbursts and an infinitely dark edge to it may be one way of summing up what lies in store for you here, but the fact of the matter is that the pace varies considerably throughout and that the compositions are emotionally charged yet accessible. Organic, warm-sounding, and with a strong inner spiritual dimension to it, there is depth to these ten tracks and plenty for you to experience and discover here. In addition, the vocals get me every time and complement the riffs superbly.
"Electric Temple" never outstays its welcome and is both energetic and introspective, and it is a strangely surreal soundtrack to nights filled with longing – and a highly effective one at that. Dramatic grandeur in a hazy setting!
