SNOWY WHITE AND THE WHITE FLAMES – Something on Me

Former Thin Lizzy guitar slinger Snowy White impressed me greatly with his exquisitely crafted record titled ”The Situation” last year, and so naturally, I was really excited about this latest musical venture of his into the land of the blues. In terms of style and atmosphere, ”Something on Me” closely resembles its predecessor, and one of the reasons these stately compositions appeal to me is that they possess emotional weight and plenty of depth,
While I do think that ”The Situation” was even more moving and heartfelt than this 2020 opus of his, White has once again succeeded in putting an interesting album together that is rich in light and shade, and if you close your eyes while immersing yourself in its eleven tracks, it kind of feels as if one is embarking on a beautiful and intimate musical odyssey full of yearning and loneliness.
”Something on Me” is melancholic blues rock with a touch of class to it, and although it does not conjure up as many highlights as the aforementioned ”The Situation” did, it is a rewarding listening experience and a cohesive, confident record. Having said that, I would wager that it would only appeal to those of you out there who truly cherish the blues. Make sure you check the haunting tunes named ”It’s Only the Blues” and ”One More Traveller” out.
