LUCIFER’S CHILD – The Wiccan

Lucifer’s Child is a new act comprising members of Greek masters Rotting Christ and Nightfall.

You can probably guess from that what the sound is like: although black metal influences exist, the overall offering of this album is mid-paced tracks with a strong emphasis on creating driving rhythms that create an occult but not blasphemous vibe. If you know your Greek metal, you’ll know that this type of thing is bread and butter to them and it will be no surprise to hear the guys have done an excellent job here.

Because the tracks are so memorable and there are so many catchy riffs, this is a much more accessible album than is usual for something this heavy and with such dark blood flowing under its veins. But it works because the musicianship is great, everyone involved had such a clear and focussed vision of what they wanted to do and because the production is so bang on target.

This is an album that will stick to the top of your playlist and one that satisfies on repeated return visits. Great stuff!
