DISTANT SUN – Dark Matter

Forming in 2010, Russian trio Distant Sun perform an entertaining power/thrash blend on this debut full-length album "Dark Matter". Speedy and crunchy yet full of many exotic twists, bends, and rhythms – Metallica, Rage, and Annihilator would be the three biggest aural points to launch onto regarding their songwriting, musicianship, and execution. "Kill the Fremen" has a guitar/ drum charge that is straight out of "Kill ‘Em All" school, while "Matrix Hacked" has a lot of that riff mix and progressive stop/start chops that early Annihilator fans know and love.
Guitarist Alexey Markov doubles up on vocals, and he has a clear, sneering type delivery that Rage fans will find familiar – nothing overtly offensive and goes along seamlessly with the music. This is a 10 song album that 80’s power/thrash followers should head bang incessantly to.
