ITHAQUA – Initiation To Obscure Mysteries

"Initiation To Obscure Mysteries" is the debut release from Greek duo Ithaqua. It is firmly steeped in its country’s tradition – so much so that it sounds like a demo from the early days of Rotting Christ or the Greek scene of the early 90’s. As seems to be typical with bands of this provenance, there is a superlative skill in creating pulsing, mesmerising rhythms and the mystical keyboards add a slightly epic, esoteric feel. The riffs and songwriting are pretty decent too, with plenty of absorbing and memorable stuff going on. Once again, Iron Bonehead deliver the goods.
