A five-piece act from Texas, White Arms of Athena on their self-titled sophomore album fuse a brand of progressive, dissident shred heavy rock platform that floors you. Expect atmospheric, alternative and almost morose melodies in the vocal department, which added to the thunderous, progressive drumming, solid bass parts, and clean to electric guitar action gives "On the Edge" this spacious openness, while the 11 minute "This Transition" has a psychedelic vibe that intertwines Jane’s Addiction, Incubus, and a lot of that Southwestern finesse, the occasional screams coming from a modern slant.
8 tracks and 38 minutes to consume- White Arms of Athena shine because of their ability to fuse multiple genres into a sound quite potent, keeping you on the edge of your seat in both quiet and heavy aural adventures.
