NECRONOMICON – Rise of the Elder Ones’

‘Rise of the Elder Ones’ is the fourth full length release from Canadian deathsters Necronomicon. The music is the same blackened death metal we’ve seen from these guys before, with the addition of some keyboards here and there to provide depth and add a symphonic edge.

Once again the songs are good and the chops are all there, but once again you never feel that this is a band who are going to ever break the first division. There are plenty of good things going on, and they are a likable set of blokes but that is as far as it goes for me.

So, in the final analysis, yes, you’d probably enjoy this album, but you’d never get that wow and unless you only have a few dozen records in your collection, this isn’t one that would be indespensible.
